The Bright And Funny Rock A Poem by Jay

Whose rock is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite happy though.
Full of joy like a vivid rainbow,
I watch him laugh. I cry hello.

He gives his rock a shake,
And laughs until her belly aches.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.

The rock is bright, funny and deep,
But he has promises to keep,

After cake and lots of sleep.

Sweet dreams come to him cheap.

He rises from his gentle bed,
With thoughts of kittens in his head,
He eats his jam with lots of bread.
Ready for the day ahead.

With thanks to the poet, Robert Frost, for the underlying structure.

Frenemy and Fake People

#Frenemy #FakePeople

They give their Fakes and legs a shake,
And sob until their tears melt.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant mirrors keeping barbers awake.

Fake are People, Frenemy and deep,
But they too have promises to keep,
Until then they shall not sleep.
They lie in beds with ducts that weep.

They rise from their bitter beds,
With thoughts of madness in their head,
They idolise being dead.
Faking the day with never-ending dread.

With thanks to the poet, Robert Frost, for the underlying structure.

Mazes of our own making and self-created Entanglements

All life is an effort to attain freedom from self-created entanglement.

It is a desperate struggle to undo what has been done under ignorance, to throw away the accumulated burden of the past, to find rescue from the debris left by a series of temporary achievements and failures.

Life seeks to unwind the limiting sanskaras of the past and to obtain release from the mazes of its own making, so that its further creations may spring directly from the heart of eternity and bear the stamp of unhampered freedom and intrinsic richness of being which knows no limitation.

WhatsApp forward: TEN ADVICES from a Supreme Court JUDGE who handled Family Dispute Courts

Can’t assure the authenticity of this message:

1.Don’t encourage your son and his wife to stay under same roof with you. Best to suggest them to move out, even to the extent of renting a house. It’s their problem to find a separate home.
More the distance between you and your children’s families, the better is the relationship with your in laws.

2.Treat your son’s wife as his wife, not as your own daughter, maybe just treat her as a friend. Your son would always be your Junior but, if you think that his wife is of the same rank and if you ever scolded her, she would remember it for life.
In real life, only her own mother and not u will be viewed as a person qualified to scold or correct her.

3.Whatever habits or characters your son’s wife has is not your problem at all, it is your son’s problem. It isn’t your problem as he is an adult already.

4.Even when living together, make each others businesses clear, don’t do their laundry, don’t cook for them and don’t baby sit their children. Unless, of course, there is a special request by your son’s wife and you feel that you’re capable and don’t expect anything in return.
Most importantly, you shouldn’t worry about your son’s family problems. Let them settle themselves

5.Pretend to be blind and deaf when your son and his wife are quarrelling. It’s normal that the young couple do not like their parents to be involved in the dispute between husband and wife.

6.Your grandchildren totally belong to your son and his wife. However they want to raise their children, it is up to them. The credit or blame would be on them.

7.Your son’s wife need not necessarily respect and serve you. It is the son’s duty. You should have taught your son to be a better person so that you and your son’s wife relationship could be better.

8.Do more planning for your own retirement, don’t rely on your children to take care of your retirement. You had already walked through most of your journey in life, there are still a lot of new things to learn through out the journey.

9.It is your own interest that you enjoy your retirement years. Better if you could utilise & enjoy everything that you had saved before you die. Don’t let your wealth become worthless to you.

10.Grandchildren don’t belong to your family, they’re their parents precious gift.

PLEASE NOTE
_This message is not only for you. Please share it with your friends, parents, in-laws, uncles, aunties, husband or wife to find peace & progress in life as it is *based on life long experience* of a *judge* who handled *family dispute courts*.

Spirituality is a positive attitude towards life.

Spirituality is a positive attitude towards life.

Spirituality must make man more human. It is a positive attitude of releasing all that is good, noble and beautiful in man. It also contributes to all that is gracious and lovely in the environment.

It does not require the external renunciation of worldly activities or the avoiding of duties and responsibilities.

It only requires that, while performing the worldly activities or discharging the responsibilities arising from the specific place and position of the individual, the inner spirit should remain free from the burden of desires.

Spirituality and Detachment

Spirituality consists in meeting life adequately and fully without being overpowered by the opposites.

It must assert its dominion over all illusions—however attractive or powerful.

Without avoiding contact with the different forms of life, a perfect man functions with complete detachment in the midst of intense activity.

I like this newsletter from Emotional Intelligence Institute

NGAGE Issue 134
Tuesday 19th June 2018.

by Rachel Green, Director, The Emotional Intelligence Institute
www.theEIinstitute.com
Welcome to this week’s Engage newsletter. I hope you are happy and well. This week, all our new subscribers are from Australia. It’s great to have you with us. It is finally winter in Western Australia and I am thrilled to see the drought end and the rain fall. I hope the weather is being kind to you wherever you are.

Stress shrinks your brain: How to stop it

We live in a society that is stressful. How can emotional intelligence help? Feeling stressed is an emotion. How we respond to it and how easily it is triggered in us are both signs of how emotionally intelligent we are.

There are emotionally intelligent ways to handle stress, and there are ways that are not emotionally intelligent.

What do you do to stop yourself feeling stressed, under pressure or overwhelmed? What do you do when these stressed feelings arise? How quickly can you turn them around?

Let’s look at how we can handle all our responsibilities, but still be relaxed and live an emotionally healthy life by applying emotionally intelligent ways to reduce or handle stress.

Handle Stress tip 1: Write down your priorities

Identify your priorities. Write them down. Put them somewhere where you can see them easily. And read them. And read them often. Keep reminding yourself of your priorities and attend to them first. And then, of course, the big one, do your priorities!

Handle stress tip 2: Learn to say no (politely)

In order to meet your priorities you need to be able to say “no” to other opportunities that come your way.

Do not simply agree to do activities or tasks, just because you’ve been asked. Do not simply watch an interesting TV program just because it’s on. Don’t say “yes” just because something is interesting or nice. You do not have the time to do everything that is nice. Learn to say “no, thank you” nicely and firmly; and to stick to it.

Handle stress tip 3: Look after your health

When stress and pressure increase most people stop doing what they need to do to stay healthy. This is the time you must do what you need to do to stay healthy.

  • Eat even healthier food.
  • Go to bed even earlier.
  • Exercise even more.

Look after yourself at times of stress and then you’ll cope much better with the pressure.

Handle stress tip 4: Increase your Vitamin B intake

A clinical trial conducted at Swinburne University of Technology, by Professor Con Stough and his team, showed that those who took Vitamin B supplements over a three month period had lower levels of stress at the end of the trial period than when they began the study. In comparison the group who were given a placebo had no significant difference.

Handle Stress tip 5: Clear out your head

During the day most of us pick up a lot of negativity and dirt in our heads. We hear anger outbursts, we generate our own frustrations, and people are negative in how they talk to us or e-mail us.

All this dirt can stick in our minds. Just as you wash your body each day, get into the habit of clearing away your mind dirt, of getting rid of any negativity, resentments or anxieties that you have picked up during the day.

How you do this, whether through meditation, prayer, yoga, tai chi, dance, tapping, painting, voice toning, singing or other cleansing energising activity, doesn’t matter. It does matter that you do it. Don’t be worn down by negative junk in your mind. It is all part of stress and you don’t need it.

Be Happy not hassled

Worried that you can’t get rid of the stress. Try meditating. I use it regularly and it helps to keep me calm. We have some very popular meditation audio-downloads that can guide you to peace on our “Happy not hassled” MP3s.

Joke Corner

Thanks to Angelee Deodhar, in India, for today’s joke.

Driving on the Freeway.

An old man was driving down the Freeway at 22 kilometres per hour. He never went above or below. An officer noticed and followed him a while and then pulled him over. Before the officer could even get to the window the man was saying “I was not speeding, the speed limit is 22 kph and that is exactly what I was doing, I was not speeding”.

The police officer said, “I didn’t pull you over for speeding, I pulled you over for going too slow”.

The man said “But the sign says 22”.

The officer told him that he was on state route 22. As the man shook his head, the officer noticed that there were three older ladies sitting inside the car. All of them were sitting with their mouths hanging open. Their faces were very white and their hair was completely messy.

The police officer leaned toward the man and said “What is wrong with them?”

The man said “Well, we just came off state route 134”.

Summary

May your stress diminish and may you be able to stay calm in the face of negativity – let it wash over you. Learn how to slow down on the freeway of life with the guided meditations on our “Happy not hassled” MP3 recordings. Your brain will thank you.

Talk next week,
Blessings
Rachel.

Keep Walking – Keep Learning

Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay gave a Mantra – Charaiveti, CharaiVeti. Keep Walking .. And Trust me Chalte Chalte – Just morning Walking I am doing these certifications and it feels so good. Learning new things, new skills is my passion and now I have all the time available to pursue thing I always wanted to do. 🙂UC-O6Y5BULC

Have you felt Humbled?

I was going thru some of my old EverNote notes.
It read:
“Unable to get people on con call.
Someone commented on my old tie –all it needs is a stitch.
I was humbled.”
Those were good old Corporate days. Sometimes due to the Global Time Differences, it would become difficult to get people on Conference Calls/ Video Calls/ Audio Chats.
I remember vividly, one of the colleagues took a dig at my tie whose label had come out from one side and was visible to the powerful camera and hence to all participants.
My colleague said “All your Old Tie needs is a Stitch”.   It humbled me.
Today, I do not remember the name of the colleague and my bad, I did not note it down in the Evernote.
Thinking – how to mend some of the Old ties? The Old friendships. The Oldest ones for example.  A friend sent me a WhatsApp last afternoon “All well? No news from you for long?”
I thought, this friend was visiting USA to his two sons and may not have access to his Indian phone number/ whatsapp as it is a long stay – he had planned to stay for 6 months.
Then after a while, I found two missed calls and one which stopped before 3 rings ( Damn Redmi Y1 and Damn my One Plus 5 T).  I called him.  He was back 15 days ago and was shifting home after 34 years.  We became colleagues and later thick friends since 1985.  His old flat / building was going under renovation and the neighbors were concerned that he had not yet vacated the flat so that the builder can start work.  He shifted to a small one bedroom flat. Sitting among boxes, he thought of me and called. He was worried as most babyboomers do when they do not get RESPONSE.
We had a catch up chat, I said I may visit your town soon for a morning/ evening trip and will try and atleast speak from  airport.  He said stay back, be my guest. Let’s catch up. We may be gone again for a long long time to USA and who knows….
I knew I was humbled again – All the Old Tie needed what just a proverbial STITCH.

Mental Turmoil: & a Random Quote from Bible – Jay’s Tantra -3

Numbers 31:15

Passage:

“Have you allowed all the women to live?”

he asked them.

I had a mental turmoil. At such moments, I turn to Gita, Ramayan, Bible and turn a page and pick one verse or quote.  Try and mull and understand the meaning to find inner peace and God’s message to me to listen to my inner voice with HIS Voice reverberating in my mind together.

This is a personal technique – I call it Jay’s Tantra and it helps me at times to go find the meaning beyond the words, deeply thinking, introspecting, reminiscences of the past and slowly it brings me to the present – my STATE and shows me a path to overcome the mental turmoil, dilemmas, indecisive phase, awkwardness of the decisions I thought or took and their impact.

I need to hear a preacher understand the quote from the bible but the belief that it is a God’s word – leads me to what I began searching and it has helped in terrible moments in my life.  They have always helped me to bounce back with vigor, rigor, self-confidence.
