Creativity: Random phrases for Friday and how my day went.

  1. Two Down, One to Go Meaning: Two things have been completed, but there is one more that has yet to be finished.  I finished two article writing and two presentations now one more to go.  Going is tough but it gets going.
  2. Easy As Pie Meaning: Something that is easy.  Parting was so damned easy, why did I drag my feet and procrastinate?  I should have listened to my Theta brainwave and the Gut feel the very first time.
  3. Throw In the Towel Meaning: Giving up; to surrender.  Even the worst of urban commie brainwashed bran-heads give up in surrender, the worst of the masks can be unpeeled and the already Red Inside faces can be made bloody – it is a skill, a technique,  a hard De-mentoring and exposing the pseudos – the Freeloaders who like a pest/ Leech suck your time, efforts, money and peace of mind. Good riddance!
  4. Right Out of the Gate Meaning: Right from the beginning; to do something from the start. Someone said about hindsight and my polite response was – I have foresight and farsight. I drive with a backview mirror – I don’t need a mirror to see driving in the fore.  The hindsight is reserve of the stray horses and mares with broken or absent shoes with hurting nail which makes them kick at everything – not in sight and ignore what is in sight.  That is where the ‘Saddle point’ of negotiations arrive and the Best Jockeys – Mentors put nose rings and blinkers ON so that they can convert the strays into Race horses.  Best trainers, jockeys have a different approach to deal with them. Branding them is the first step 🙂
  5. Jack of All Trades Master of None Meaning: Having suitable skill in multiple things, but not being an expert in any of them.  Yes.  For too long I have been that.  45 specific online courses (on Udemy)  later – i am still searching for the right niche’ to be an expert.  Otherwise, I am sure, I shall get an Honorary D.Litt. from a friendly University one day 🙂 🙂 🙂

Word Count:

691

Summary:

To reach our business goals we need right resources and/or the insights to help our business reach the success it’s capable of.  Following four insights will help us generate the business we’ve always dreamed of.

Article Body:

1.  Experiment with New Advertising Methods

A sharp decline in the effectiveness of our advertising campaign is usually the the first sign that we might need to explore new marketing strategies We shell out and ( as critics say – BURN) hard earned cash to advertise, and pubic turns its nose up! Procrastinating till our profits are plunging to start hunting for new marketing strategies is futile.

What could possibly be these foolproof selling techniques? Yeah, no more customers walking out with empty hands… no more profits disappearing into thin air! Share below,  are 4 secrets that will help you put money in your pocket, and enhance your current customer list and augment, hyperscale your business.

1. Make It Easy

While the old adage – variety is the spice of life is true;  giving customers too many choices can lead them into indecision or procrastination. We know, very well;  when customers procrastinate … we lose sale!

Imagine a customer walks into shop / the point of purchase, your business premises; and is ready to purchase, and suddenly sees several options he didn’t know existed, he’ll stop, and then decide… which one?   If he’s uncertain… well, you lose a sale that was already in your pocket.

Make it easy for your customers to decide… yes, I’ll buy it… no I won’t buy it.  Yes and no decisions are a lot easier to make, and are more likely to put cash in the drawer.

2. Offer Several Ways To Buy

Too many choices can overwhelm customers and can cost you sales.  These options of how to buy may open up avenues for customers to purchase the product they’ve decided they need. They say there are different strokes for different folks… your customers don’t all use same methods to buy.  It just makes sense that if the method they prefer is available, they’ll be more likely to take advantage of it.

Convenience it the key to attracting buyers in today’s fast paced society.  What will be the fastest and easiest for them… credit card, phone, fax, Internet, or cold hard cash?

3. Keep it Simple

Do you remember the frustration of spending 10 minutes pushing buttons on the phone just to get through a pain-in-the-neck automated ordering service.  Heck, you just wanted to buy that one item!  Maybe it was the time you had to click your finger raw, just to jump through the hoops of an online shopping cart.  Yeah, the temptation to just forget it is right there!

Don’t frustrate your customers with intricate ordering processes.  Most likely, they just want to place the order in a few minutes and be done.  Let them get frustrated, and they’ll go elsewhere, or just abandon the idea altogether.

4. Follow Up

One of my favorite catalog companies always closes out the sale with a special buy that is available only at the time of purchase.  I’m an impulsive shopper by  but it stops me in my tracks every time.  I know it’s a one-time shot, and I really consider whether I want or need it before I hang up the phone.

How many items would your customers buy if you were to follow up every sale with a special offer?  Internet marketers have a world of options at their fingertips.  The products you offer don’t even have to be yours… and you can still make a profit!

Affiliate marketing is sweeping the Web.  Think about it… would your customers benefit from an ebook that deals with the product they are purchasing?  You can offer it to them, and let the owner handle ordering process while you collect the commission.  It’s as easy as 1, 2, and 3 and profitable too!

Boosting your sales numbers and profits isn’t as tough as it sounds.  Implement these 4 simple selling techniques, and watch your sales steadily climb… and just think… they didn’t cost you a penny!

Wise Coach – Naive Coach

I was reading this commercial from Tony Robbins’ Newsletter ”

When someone asks you for help, how do you respond?

The naive coach tends to “over-commit.”

They feel this heartfelt pressure to help the person, so the say, “Yes! Let me share my solutions with you. I’m committed to your change. Let’s make it happen!”

Why is this naive? Because if you rush in too much as a coach, you might scare the client away!

Or worse yet, you are seen as a “nagging” friend giving them unwanted advice. Ever experience that?

The wise coach knows better. They say, “Great. I’d love to help you.”

Then the wise coach thinks to themselves, “Let’s figure out what kind of client this is.”

You see, there are four different client types. The four types have different goals. They work at different speeds.

And they have completely different expectations for their coach.

When the naive coach “rushes in” to help, they miss out on the client’s type.

They miss what’s really going on.

The wise coach first understands the client’s type, and proceeds accordingly.

Which coach do you think is more effective?

If you ever find yourself giving advice to someone who doesn’t seem to benefit… I have something for you.

Today we will be sharing one of our top strategies for bringing faster, more profound change to coaching clients.

It will also work on anyone in your life who needs your help.”

I come into the later category of coaches – the Naive Coach! I tend to commit fast, stay committed for long and rarely have I failed.

I believe that Flirting Mentor is an Oxymoron just as a term like Naive Coach is, IMHO.   A TRUE coach or mentor is neither naive nor a Flirt ! Serious coaches are Committed people and whether they commit early or later is a matter of their mind’s processes and early or late decision making capabilities/ habits – nothing else!

Mentor Master Class- Free Tutorial Series 1-10 for Mentors from Jay Parkhe #2

In today’s competitive business world, there are two basic realities that drive the workforces. First one is getting people who get results. Second is to get people who get results stay.

Today’s world of globalization, customized employee enhancement plans, competitive benefits, and demographic changes make it very tough on companies to get and then retain talent. That’s how the managers of today are not just managers. They are recruiters, planners, motivators, and trainers, all rolled into one.

To keep this already-complex chain of operation from spiraling out of control, the companies have found the best way to manage their staff is to coach them. The role of a coach in a company, in this regard, is to take a group of people with diversified proficiency, understand their strengths and improve them, and at the same time, realize the cause of their weaknesses and eradicate them.

The Role of a Coach

The role of a coach is significantly different from that of an instructor. In coaching, employees are asked to grow in their strengths and address their weaknesses so that they realize their self-growth. It keeps them motivated and happy in the workplace – both keys to retaining talent.

Leaders take their staff from where they are to where they’ve never been before. Nothing could define coaching better than this statement from Henry Kissinger.

Coaching, in the true sense, is tailor-made for people who have the potential to grow to greater heights and yet, are too content in delivering just satisfactory performance. These employees are different from slackers who don’t perform properly, either due to non-interest or inferior knowledge.

The employees we are addressing are employees who like their professional life just the way it is at the moment, and have fit in snugly to the demands of the workplace, which is not bad in itself, however, every organization needs its employees to grow. That’s the way every organization grows too, being a sum total of different talented groups. The job of a coach, therefore, is to ensure that the employees improve their job performance through a constant process of encouraging and suggesting improvements.

From My fav Newsletter – Ladders. Starbucks Hacks- very interesting.

LIFE

13 Starbucks hacks you need to know

Admit it — you’re low-key obsessed with Starbucks. Starbucks is not just a restaurant — it’s a lifestyle. We wait year round for the infamous PSL (being labeled “basic,” be damned), know it’s time for Christmas when they start serving Gingerbread Lattes from Christmas cups, and look forward to summer with fruity, refreshing, and Insta-worthy iced teas.

But it can be a pretty expensive obsession to have! With typical menu drinks costing about $3-$7, plus whatever add-ins you prefer, it can add up (especially if it’s a daily occurence!). However — it doesn’t have to be that way. It’s worth looking into how to get more bang for our (Star)buck, and how many options the trusty coffee chain and cafe really can offer us. Read on for the hacks that will save you time, money, and calories at Starbucks.

1. Don’t limit yourself to what’s on the menu

In fact, the most expert Starbucks-frequenters rarely order off the menu, to get their favorite drinks and to save money! Check out the secret menu (yes, it really does exist!) or try these secret menu drink concoctions that are all $3, and never pay $5 for a coffee again! If you prefer lattes, order the cafe misto, which tastes the same (half coffee, half milk), but is significantly cheaper (and will save you calories!). More of a tea drinker? A chai latte misto is half steamed milk and half brewed chai tea, saving you money and sugar (you can also just order a hot chai tea with steamed milk if the terminology weirds you out, and save about $2).

2. Make your own drinks for a cheaper price

Iced lattes are one of the most satisfying and refreshing drinks, but can get pricey, especially if you prefer them in Venti size instead of the Tall (don’t we all on Monday mornings?). Instead of ordering a latte, order a triple espresso over ice, in a Venti cup (with room for milk), and then go to the condiments area to fill up your coffee with milk, which makes an iced latte, but for a fraction of the cost. If you prefer your lattes hot, you can also order a Tall coffee with steamed milk (still cheaper than a latte!), or a Tall hot coffee in a Grande cup, and fill up on the milk at the condiments station — a Grande latte for the price of a Tall coffee!

3. Never pay full price for two drinks during the same trip, again

Spend a lot of workdays or meetings at Starbucks where you stay for hours and get multiple drinks? Or maybe just one cup of coffee for you doesn’t cut it? Anytime throughout the day (and in any size — Tall, Grande, or Venti), refill your cup with brewed coffee or tea for just 5o cents. Just know that “refills” only count as iced or hot coffee and iced or hot tea (but remember the tricks above to turn it into a latte!). Also an insider tip: you can get a 50 cent refill with coffee or tea, even if your original drink was not just brewed coffee or tea. So feel free to fill up on a Pumpkin Spice Latte and get a 50 cent extra pick-me-up of tea before you leave!

4. Bring your own cup

Not only will you be saving the planet, one coffee cup and plastic straw at a time, but you’ll also save 10 cents on your drink whenever you bring your own tumbler, cup, or mug. We love using an ever-so-chic mason jar with a lid, or — funny you should mention it — Starbucks has amazing reusable cups of their own. We love this one, this one, and this one.

5. Sign up for Rewards

Normally I detest rewards programs at restaurants and stores — it’s just more spam emails and I probably spend more money than I save (it’s hard to resist a 30% sale or free pastry with purchase of drink). But at Starbucks, it is a must (and with no cons)! First of all, it’s free to sign up (did that convince you enough?), and besides just having a ton of perks for being a reward member (hello, free birthday drink!), you also earn points for a number of things, like purchasing anything in store and certain Starbucks items in grocery stores, that can be used for free food and drinks. Did we mention that it’s free?

6. Don’t buy a water bottle!

Never pay $3 for the plastic water bottle in the Starbucks fridge; just ask for a Venti iced water! You don’t have to worry about the water not being clean — Starbucks triple-filters their water and ice, so you know it’s as clean as possible and you could save some serious money. For an environmentally friendly option, you can also bring your own reusable bottle and ask Starbucks to fill it with water and ice, for free.

7. Order a French Press Pot of coffee

Going with friends or know you’ll want a few cups during your day at Starbucks? Order a French Press pot of coffee instead of individual cups. Each pot serves a few cups of coffee, but will be cheaper than buying each cup individually. Enjoy a pot with your friends, or get a serious caffeine buzz on your own (sometimes, we just need it!).

8. Get the most out of your iced drink

If you’re getting an iced tea, ask for “no water.” Iced teas are typically watered down from the original pitcher into your cup, so asking for no water will make the brew stronger. You can also ask for “light ice” (unless you prefer lots of ice). Ice is usually filled up much more than is necessary to keep the drink cold, limiting the volume of space the barista can fill the cup up with your favorite coffee drink or tea. Having light ice will give you more bang for your buck because you’ll be getting more of your drink, while still keeping it nice and cold.

9. Be specific about your syrup

I love the occasional PSL or Vanilla Latte as much as the next girl, but did you know that a Tall with sweetener has three pumps of syrup, a Grande has four pumps, and a Venti has five or six pumps? Just one pump is about 20 calories and 5 grams of sugar… are you keeping up with this math? That means just a Tall has 15 grams of sugar in the syrup alone. I don’t even want to think about how much is in a Venti! Asking for either one or two pumps per drink still gives the same flavor (we need that pumpkin spice!!) and sweetens up your drink, but if you order a Grande Vanilla Latte with two pumps vanilla syrup, you’d be saving 40 calories and 10 grams of sugar, for not much difference in taste.

10. Ask for a sample so you never get a drink you dislike again!

I don’t know about you, but I usually stick to the usual iced coffee, just so I don’t risk getting a drink that I end up not liking. But oh the possibilities out there in the Starbucks universe! Unless the store is super busy, the barista should be totally fine getting you a sample of a certain brew or drink, if you’re unsure whether or not you’d like it.

11. Know all the sizes

Thought “Tall” was the smallest? Think again — “Short” is an 8oz size (“Tall” is 12oz), which clarifies that age-old confusion that “Tall” was the smallest size, when it counterintuitively sounds like the largest — it’s because “Short” is the size smaller. Clears up a lot, doesn’t it? If you’re in the mood for a small drink, Short is cheaper than a Tall. The “Short” cappuccino has the same amount of espresso as the “Tall,” so if caffeine is your goal, opt for the cheaper options.

12. Are you and a friend both getting a Frappucino? Get one Venti!

A Venti size of your favorite sweet iced drink is about 24oz, while a Tall is 12oz. However, a Venti frappe is significantly cheaper than two Tall frappes would be (about $4 less, precisely). So instead of getting two, order the Venti size and ask for two Tall cups. Divide accordingly, and enjoy your frappucino with your friend, knowing you both saved money.

13. No time to wait in line? Order through your cell phone!

Using the Starbucks Mobile app, you can order ahead of time, and just go pick it up. No more waiting in long lines for your coffee! We’re busy women — we have much more important things to do.

There are so many different things to promote and you want to reach your target audience to get the results that you are seeking.

Outline your tasks daily using the day timer you will know what day and time you can repost your ads or emails to Safelists. This is a great time saver. If you have multiple email accounts a program called GMAIL Apps is tops, login one place and check them all at once. A lot times for every task to get the most important done early when you are full of energy. Take breaks so you can re-evaluate what you are doing and be more receptive to tasks still to be done. Organization will set you above the crowd because you will accomplish more.

Reach your crowd after finding your niche you need to advertise to your target. Go to forums and post to the ones that fit your niche so you will be working your ads to people with the same goals and targets you have. In the forums you will not be able to blatantly set your ads out, post what you would like to add and then leave your signature with your URL in it. If they enjoyed or learned from your post they might want to follow up by visiting your site.

Mentors get you trained and help stimulate the learning process. They keep you fortified with uplifting values and appeal to your excitement. With the right mentor you will go farther because you are learning from them, this shortens your learning curve. When you work with others listen and you will gain information from them from what they have been doing in their promotion.

Using every avenue of promotion, traffic exchanges also use banner views for your credits. They have blog exchanges, you view others blogs to get traffic to your blog. They also have banner rotators you can post one url in the banner slot with 5 banners loaded to cycle through. Just a few of the ways to make your time work better with tools online. Before you purchase any software online check out and see what other people have to say about it at Google. This is a way to find out before you have put out your money for software that will

not be used. Market wisely and then you will be in the profit zone.

Leave nothing to chance, ad trackers help you to find which promotion is working for you. This also depends on titles and content when this has been checked and it still does not pull people in, then leave the non-producers behind and find new ones. Traffic Hoopla has the top promoters listed every week; this is a good resource to check. This one costs but still a good resource- Traffic Testers.

Advertise, and advertise some more, you just have to get the word out. Even the big names put their logos and advertising out there for millions of dollars. You can start with the free ones and after making money move on and put your money out for paid advertising. Keep your records so you know what you are spending and what is bringing the people to your site.

Mind and Heart

Spiritual understanding is born of harmony between mind and heart.

This harmony of mind and heart does not require the mixing up of their functions.

It does not imply cross-functioning, but co-operative functioning. Their functions are neither identical nor co-ordinate.

Mind and heart must of course be balanced but this balance cannot be secured by pitching the mind against the heart or by pitching the heart against the mind.

It can be attained not through mechanical tension, but through intelligent adjustment.

Heart Of Gold

Free verse by JAY

An aminophylline, however hard it tries,
Will always be GOLD.
Are you upset by how gilt it is?
Does it tear you apart to see the aminophylline so chromatic?

I cannot help but stop and look at underlying metal.
Never forget the subjacent and basic metal.

The spot that’s really cunning,
Above all others is the marble.
Mmm.
Why is it so cunning?

And the Autogenerated third version is given below 🙂

Heart Of Gold

An aminophylline, however hard it tries,
Will always be GOLD.
Never forget the aureate and gilded aminophylline.

I cannot help but stop and look at underlying metal.
Now fundamental is just the thing,
To get me wondering if metal are rudimentary.

The zany marble sings like a veined hair
Mmm. mmm, mmm.

Don’t we all?

Good story sent by a friend
I parked in front of a mall, wiping my car, when a tramp approached me.

From the looks of him, he had no car, no home,  no clean clothes, and no money.

There are times when you feel generous but sometimes you just don’t want to be bothered.

This was one of those “don’t want to be bothered times”.

I hope he doesn’t ask me for money, I thought.

He didn’t.

He sat down on the curb and after a few minutes he spoke.

“That’s a very pretty car,” he said.

He was ragged but he had an air of dignity around him. His scraggly beard keep more than his face warm.

I said, “Thanks,” and continued wiping my car.

He sat quietly. The expected plea for money never came.

As the silence between us widened something inside me said, “Ask him if he needs any help.”

I was sure he would say “Yes” but I held true to the inner voice.

“Do you need any help?” I asked.

He answered in three simple but profound words that I shall never forget.

We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and accomplishments.

I expected nothing but an outstretched grimy hand. But he spoke the three words that shook me.

“Don’t we all?” he said.

I was feeling high and mighty, successful and important, above a tramp in the street, until those three words hit me.

Don’t we all?

I needed help.

Maybe not for a meal or a place to sleep, but I needed help.

I reached in my wallet and gave him enough to get a warm meal.

Those three little words still ring true.

No matter how much you have, no matter how much you have accomplished, you need help too.

No matter how little you have, no matter how loaded you are with problems, even without money or a place to sleep, you can give help.

Even if it’s just a compliment, you can give that.

You never know when you may see someone that appears to have it all. But they may be waiting for you to give them what they don’t have!

* A different perspective on life

* A glimpse at something beautiful

* A respite from daily chaos, that only you with a different view can see.

Maybe the man was just a homeless stranger wandering the streets.

Maybe he was more than that. Maybe he was sent by a power that is great and wise, to minister to people too comfortable in themselves.

Maybe God looked down, called an Angel, dressed him like a tramp, then said, “Go minister to that man cleaning the car, that man needs help.”

DON’T WE ALL?

🙏😊 Good Morning🙏😊 Have a wonderful weekend🙏😊🙏

Silent Dialogues and My presence

“MY PRESENCE—-

“Subtler than space, finer than time, My Presence is ever accessible, though not necessarily easy to reach. Silent dialogue with Me is one of the ways of feeling My presence. If your inner attention is focused on Me, you will sense a delicate tug within you, regardless of the activity you are engaged in.

And you will become aware that I am caring for you, anxious to help you. No activity is insignificant.” “ But you should feel deep in your heart that you need Me in them. Call on Me in the little – nay, in the littlest — things that you do. For then they sprout tiny yet mighty wings which will gracefully transport you to the higher and subtler realms of My presence within you.”

Creativity: Random Phrase generated this morning and how day is ending…

  1. Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees Meaning: Suggests that money is a resource that must be earned and is not one that’s easily acquired. I sometimes wonder how deep the negotiations go into cutting into teacher’s courses. I found it absurd when the negotiator of an educational institute was so unreasonable – he was happy if I said I will teach ProBono 🙂 I said NO!
  2. Give a Man a Fish Meaning: It’s better to teach a person how to do something than to do that something for them.  I TOTALLY agree after this year’s lessons I learnt. Doing things for free, offering free advice has no Value. People like PRICE these days and are mostly unwilling to pay or negotiate hard for a ProBono bargain. The attitudes are so horrific.
  3. What Am I, Chopped Liver? Meaning: A rhetorical question used by a person who feels they are being given less consideration than someone else. Playing Victim, playing damsel in distress like ( even guys do this 🙂  ) is characteristic of some Millennials I have dealt with in the recent past.
  4. On the Same Page Meaning: Thinking alike or understanding something in a similar way with others. Rare to find agreements and I like to push forward with even a few agreements.
  5. Poke Fun At Meaning: Making fun of something or someone; ridicule.  Is this second nature in marathi families ?  We love to poke fun, pun, pull legs so much that when we do this to others who come close  – it demagnetises and repulses them.
  6. Off One’s Base Meaning: A person that is crazy or behaving in idiotic ways.  Body language, facial gestures, awkward neck and eye movements all depict disinterest – why don’t people be cogent enough to say it on the face.
  7. When the Rubber Hits the Road Meaning: When something is about to begin, get serious, or put to the test. The real tests hopefully start for a new Revenue making stint next month onwards.
  8. Yada Yada Meaning: A way to notify a person that what they’re saying is predictable or boring.  Wonderful expression. I like it. 🙂
  9. Keep Your Shirt On Meaning: Keeping calm. Usually said by someone who is trying to avoid making others upset. What I have come across this year mostly are those who offer their shirts when they are REALLY naked.
  10. Down For The Count Meaning: Someone or something that looks to be defeated, or nearly so.  Hmmm… That’s not me ! Never.  🙂

The Salt And Weak Pepper

A Poem by jay

Whose pepper is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite sad though.
It really is a tale of woe,
I watch him frown. I say hello.

He gives his pepper a shake,
And sobs until the tears make.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.

The pepper is emotional, weak and deep,
But salt has promises to keep,
Until then he shall not sleep.
He lies in plate with ducts that weep.

He rises from his soggy bread,
With thoughts of madness in his head,
He idolises being dead.
Facing the day with never ending dread.

Random phrases generated for creative juices to flow:)

  1. Shot In the Dark Meaning: An attempt that has little chance for success. But worth taking. I don’t leave till the end, whenever it comes – it may or may not come. Keep at it.
  2. Birds of a Feather Flock Together Meaning: People tend to associate with others who share similar interests or values. Yes. Especially Conniving, Nefarious, Nexus of Corrupt always find ways to come together.
  3. On the Ropes Meaning: Being in a situation that looks to be hopeless! Hmmm… In such cases, I do not persist. I take a walk. A childhood trait.  Whenever there was an issue about Captaincy and someone wanted to be one instead of me – I’d walk away and start a new club, a new team and remain the Captain. What an authoritarian, autocrat I was. No?
  4. Down And Out Meaning: (1) A term used in a boxing. (2) Someone who has become incapacitated.  No. Never. Never give up.  I was able to contain the heart disease with Doctors, family help and my own determination.  I still live with half a heart pumping at only 35% but I choose to live and not give up.
  5. Hear, Hear Meaning: A shout of agreement, or to draw attention to a speaker.  No many times do we hear this.  These days, like the purchase managers of the olden days, people are taught to say NO NO NO NO till their tongue bleeds. 🙂

Creativity and Random phrases for today.

  1. Roll With the Punches Meaning: To tolerate or endure through the unexpected mishappenings you may encounter from time to time.  Yes. As an ex Boxer I am ready to face them.
  2. Back To the Drawing Board Meaning: Starting over again on a new design from a previously failed attempt. Starting to publish the Poetry ebook from my blog tomorrow is the deadline. How I hate deadlines.
  3. Jack of All Trades Master of None Meaning: Having suitable skill in multiple things, but not being an expert in any of them.  Yes I am one. No problem with that.
  4. Rain on Your Parade Meaning: To spoil someone’s fun or plans; ruining a pleasurable moment.  Happened this morning and suggested solutions to overcome the issues and mitigate risks.
  5. Hear, Hear Meaning: A shout of agreement, or to draw attention to a speaker. Yet to happen.
  6. I Smell a Rat Meaning: A feeling that something is not quite right, or awry. That sinking feeling… Why does it always occur on my bad biorhythm days?

I liked this parable : Mathew 13

The Parable of the Sower (sometimes called the Parable of the Soils) is a parable of Jesusfound in the three Synoptic Gospels in Matthew 13:1-23, Mark 4:1-20, and Luke 8:4-15.

In the story, a sower sows seed and does so indiscriminately. Some seed falls on the path (wayside) with no soil, some on rocky ground with little soil, and some on soil which contained thorns. In these cases the seed is taken away or fails to produce a crop, but when it falls on good soil it grows, yielding thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold.

Jesus then (only in the presence of his disciples) explains that the seed represents the Gospel (the sower being anyone who proclaims it), and the various soils represent people’s responses to it (the first three representing rejection while the last represents acceptance.

I’m a gardener Mentor. I try and die the seeds to make Dreams grow into ambitions, translating into Vision, mission, goals, objectives, action plans, biz, marketing plans etal.

In my efforts, sometimes I come across very distressed mentees. I have to work on making the soil good as they have rocky soil of past bad experiences, thorny soil which does not allow seeds to germinate, or find soil. I spend 5, 13, 26, 52 weeks depending upon the STATE, and SITUATION.

I Sometimes come across Sand, silt or clay land or simply rocky land. Rarely I find delta land ( usualy in C Suite execs) which is fertile . Each gets a different mentor treatment.

It works. There are failures too. As the mentorees stop responding and throw seeds on footpath – it is eaten by birds and pigeons.

In one case, after sowing 150 revenue ideas and rigorously, tilling the land I found failure. I decided to move on. As the farmer/ mentoree just did not understand and allowed my gardening efforts fail.

Sad but true! It happens.

Gardener then moves on too…

Billionaire Richard Branson has some simple advice for those who want to succeed | Ladders

There’s a secret to Bransons’ success, and it’s very simple
He has one piece of advice for anyone still at the beginning of their careers: don’t give up. On Virgin’s website, he said:

“There have been so many times in my career where my ideas were overlooked. Friends, family members, people I looked up to, and the banks – not everyone always saw the potential I saw. But that didn’t deter me. Just because others don’t believe in your ideas from the get-go doesn’t mean that they are worthless. In my case, it drove me to want to succeed even more.”

He believes there’s always a second chance in life, for everything — and that if you give up, you never know what you would have achieved in the end.

“Imagine where J.K. Rowling would be if she didn’t keep persevering when others didn’t recognise the greatness of her books,” he said. “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was rejected 12 times and she was told not to quit her day job! Thomas Edison failed thousands of times to invent the lightbulb — if he’d given up, we’d all be in the dark. ”

Jay’s Quick Poetry-The Sharp And Grand Rock

Short story that inspired me to write a Quick Poem below

Imagine life is a game in which you are juggling five balls. The balls are called work, family, health, friends and integrity. And you’re keeping all of them in the air. But one day you finally come to understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. The other four balls — family, health, friends, integrity — are made of glass. If you drop one of these, it will be irrevocably scuffed, nicked, perhaps even shattered. And once you truly understand the lesson of the five balls, you will have the beginnings of balance in your life.

The Sharp And Grand Rock

A Poem by Jay Parkhe

Whose rock is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite angry though.
He was cross like a dark potato.
I watch him pace. I cry A’llo.

He gives his rock a shake,
And screams you’ve made a bad mistake.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant glasses and bars awake.

The Rock is sharp, Grand and deep,
But he has promises to keep,
Tormented with nightbirds he never sleeps.
Revenge is a promise a man must keep.

He rises from his flat bed,
With thoughts of violence in his head,
A flash of rage and he sees red.
Without a men-O-pause you turned and fled.

Story Telling : Lion, Cow and The Master/ Mentor

Why do we need a Master/ Mentor?

Story shared by a friend on WhatsApp this morning.
Once upon a time, a cow went out to graze in the jungle. Suddenly, she noticed a lion racing towards her. She turned and fled, fearing that at any moment the lion would sink his claws into her. The cow desperately looked for someplace to escape and at last, saw a shallow pond. Barely evading the lion’s reach, she jumped into the pond, and in the heat of the chase, the lion blindly leaped after her.

To the surprise of them both, the pond was extremely shallow yet filled with deep recesses of mud. After toppling over each other, the cow and the lion found themselves a short distance apart, stuck in the mud up to their necks. Both had their heads above water but were unable to free themselves no matter how much they writhed.

The lion repeatedly snarled at the cow and roared, “I am going to enjoy the sound of crunching your bones between my teeth!”

He thrashed about in fury but soon became fretful as he found no prospect of escape.

The cow thoughtfully laughed as the lion struggled to free himself and asked him, “Do you have a master?”

The lion disdainfully replied, “I am the king of the jungle. Why do you ask me if I have a master? I myself am the master!”

The cow said, “You may be the king of the jungle, but here all your power has failed to save your life.”

“And what about you?” Retorted the lion. “You are going to die here in this mud too!”’

The cow smiled mildly and said, “No, I am not.”

“If even I, the king of the jungle cannot free myself from this mud”, snapped the lion, “Then how can you, an ordinary cow?”

The cow gently replied, “I cannot free myself from this mud, but my master can. When the sun sets and he finds me absent at home, he will come looking for me. Once he finds me, he will raise me up and escort me home sweet home.”

The lion fell silent and coldly glared at the cow.

Soon enough, the sunset and the cow’s master arrived. He immediately recognized the plight she was in and lifted her to safety. As they walked home, the cow and the master both felt renewed gratitude for one another and pitied the lion they both would have been happy to save if only the lion had allowed them.

The cow represents a surrendered heart, the lion represents an egoistic mind, and the master represents the Guru. The mud represents the world, and the chase represents the struggle for existence therein.

Its good to be independent and not rely on anyone. But don’t take it to an extreme, you always need a partner/coach/mentor/ friend who will be always on the lookout for you.

Having them does not mean you are weak, it’s just that you can be stronger with their help.
Make sure to share this story with your partner/coach/mentor/ friend and express your gratitude.

The Living – An Original Song by Jay Parkhe

The Living

By Jay

An Original Song

I get on with life as a princess,
I’m a smelly kinda person.
I like singing in a choir and breeding guppies.
I like to contemplate the living.
But when I start to daydream,
My mind turns straight to the dead.

Oh oh oh!

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about the dead with a smile,
Curved lips I just can’t disguise.
But I think it’s the living making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
The Living or…
The Dead?

I like to use words like ‘crikey’ and ‘twizzle.’
I like to use words about the living.
But when I stop my talking,
My mind turns straight to the dead.

Oh oh oh!

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about the dead with a smile,
Curved lips I just can’t disguise.
But I think it’s the living making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
The Living or…
The Dead?

I like to hang out with Wily and Will.
But when left alone,
My mind turns straight to the dead.

Oh oh oh!

Sometimes I look at myself and I look into my eyes,
I notice the way I think about the dead with a smile,
Curved lips I just can’t disguise.
But I think it’s the living making my life worthwhile.
Why is it so hard for me to decide which I love more?
The Living or…
The Dead?

I hate losing card games and headless chickens.
But I just think back to the dead,
And I’m happy once again.

Oh oh oh!

The Sarcastic And Teary Best Friend

A Poem by Jay

Whose best friend is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite sad though.
It really is a tale of woe,
I watch her frown. I say hello!

She gives her best friend a shake,
And sobs until the tears make.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.

The best friend is sarcastic, teary and deep,
But she has promises to keep,
Until then she shall not sleep.
She lies in bed with pillows that weep.

She rises from her crumpled bed,
With thoughts of madness in her head,
She idolises playing dead.
Facing the day with never ending dread.

With thanks to the poet, Robert Frost, for the underlying structure.

The Thundery And Blue Car

A Poem by Jay

Whose car is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite happy though.
Full of joy like a vivid rainbow,
I watch her laugh. I cry hello.

She gives her car a shake,
And laughs until her belly aches.
The only other sound’s the break,
Of distant waves and birds awake.

The car is thundery, blue and deep,
But she has promises to keep,
After dark chocolates and lots of sleep.
Sweet dreams come to her cheap.

She rises from her gentle bed,
With thoughts of kittens in her head,
She eats her jam with lots of bread.
Ready for the day ahead.

With thanks to the poet, Robert Frost, for the underlying structure.

Jay’s Tantra 7 – For a Bad, Bad, Sad, Sad Day and the day just shines Bright!

I use this small hack I call as Tantra whenever I have a Bad BAd or Sad SAD day.

Someone once gifted me a Bible, and I have a childhood ShrimadbhagwatGita.

I open a page to read a Verse or a Shloka.

Yesterday, was one such day.  I went to my daily morning walks and stopped for taking some change at the Tea Shop.  The devout guy was lighting Agarbatti/ Incense to Lord Ganpati, Goddess Saraswati and Goddess Lakshmi.  I said, Good Omen ( Yes, even a Skeptic on a bad bad sad sad day can become believer ! ).

I read the following

2 Kings 2:18Passage: When they returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho, he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you not to go?”

And from Gita came

dhyaayato vishayaanh pumsah sangasteshhupajaayate |
sangaath samjaayate kaamah kaamaath krodho abhijaayate ||

A Shloka – my father taught me at the Age 7.

When a person dwells longingly on sense objects, an inclination towards them is generated.
This inclination develops into desire and desire gives rise to anger.

I got my messages – Strong and Clear. By evening I had put them to use and had Peace of mind and a good night’s sleep. Everything became alright.

Wanna try – Please do. It works for me every time.

I found this sentence very interesting.  Did you?  Provokes thoughts, No? I am called a Provocative Coach, who challenges coachees, mentees all the time with such and other questions 🙂 🙂

To end, I know many in India consider it a Bad Omen if a Cat – especially a black cat crosses the road.  This morning coming back from my walk, I noticed a Golden yellow colored cute cat, waiting to cross the road,  I stopped in my tracks, the Skeptic in me said,  “Move on, you are a skeptic, don’t have these thoughts, there is no such thing as BAD OMEN!  ”

AND,…. What happened was hilarious…..

…………………..

…………………… The Cute Golden Yellow color Cat

Simply nodded at me – as if saying – you cross first – I don’t believe in Bad Omens either 🙂

Friends,
There was no shortage of quality at all, yet they were out of the market !!
reason???
They have not changed over time. !!

You have an idea that in the coming 10 years, the world will change completely and 70 to 90% of the people running today will be closed.

Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution …

Uber is just a software. He does not have a single car of his own, despite this he is the world’s largest taxi company.

Airbnb is the world’s largest hotel company, while they do not have a single hotel of their own.

There are many examples like paytm, ola cabs, oyo rooms.

There is no work left for young lawyers in the US now because the software named IBM Watson gives better legal advice throughout the moment. In the next 10 years, 90% of Americans will become unemployed … who will save 10% … they will be Super Specialists.

The software named Watson is diagnosed with 4x Accuracy of Cancer compared to humans. By 2030 the computer will be more intelligent than humans.

By 2018, Driverless cars will land on the roads. By 2020, this single invention will start to change the whole world.

90% cars will disappear from the streets of the world in the next 10 years … Those who will survive will either have electric cars or hybrid … roads will be empty, consumption of petrol will decrease by 90%, all Arab countries will become bankrupt .

You will request a car from a software like Uber and in a few moments, a driverless car will be parked at your door … if you share it with someone, that ride will be cheaper than your bike.

Due to being a driverless of cars, 99% of accidents will stop. This will stop the business of Car Insurance.

No employment like a driver will survive on earth. When 90% cars will disappear from cities and roads, problems like Traffic and Parking will end automatically … because a car will be equal to 20 cars today.

From today 5 or 10 years ago, there was no such place where there is no PCO. When the mobile phone arrived, the PCOs had to shut down. The PCO people started selling the mobile phones. Now the recharge is also going online.

Have you ever noticed ..?

Today, every third store in the market is a mobile phone store which does
sale, service and maintenance of phones and it’s accessories..

Almost all payments are done by Paytm today ..
People have started booking railway tickets with their phones. The transaction of money is also changing. Currency Note was replaced by Plastic Money and now it’s
Digital…

Hence…
Every Person should continue to make changes in his business or his / her way of working and should also change his / her nature over time for Good.

“Keep Updating / Upgrading Your Skills and Knowledge with Time”

The world is changing very fast ..
Keep Your eyes and ears open or else you will lose …

Be prepared to change with time.

Run with time and
Be Successful.🙏🌹🙏

Jay was thinking about Goji Berry again. Goji was an arrogant queen with brunette hair and sticky fingers, slimey, limp palms and pursed lips.
Jay walked over to the window and reflected on his pig in the mud surroundings. He had always hated snake burrow The Earth with its united, as he uninterested in what is under the earth. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel calm.
Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the an arrogant figure of Goji Berry.
Jay gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a wild, ruthless, whiskey drinker with ginger fingers and pouting lips. His friends saw him as an arrogant, anxious author. Once, he had even saved a tight old man that was stuck in a drain.
But not even a wild person who had once saved a tight old man that was stuck in a drain, was prepared for what Goji had in store today.
The clouds danced like bopping snakes, making Jay irritable. Jay grabbed a bendy rock that had been strewn nearby; he massaged it with his hurt fingers. He had caused the self hurt.
As Jay stepped outside and Goji came closer, he could see the outstanding glint in her eye.
“I am here because I want Apology,” Goji bellowed, in a sinister tone. She slammed her fist against Jay’s chest, with the force of 8735 humming birds. “I frigging hate you, Jay .”
Jay looked back, even more irritable and still fingering the bendy rock. “Goji, I am your Foster Father,” he replied.
They looked at each other with cross feelings, like two thundering, thoughtful tortoises rampaging at a very tactless accident, which had jazz music playing in the background and two vile uncles talking to the beat.
Jay studied Goji’s brunette hair and his hurt fingers and the pursed lips. Eventually, he took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, but I can’t give you Apology,” he explained, in pitying tones.
Goji looked angry, her body raw like a glorious, good gun.
Jay could actually hear Goji’s body shatter into 6000 pieces. Then the arrogant queen hurried away into the distance.
Not even a glass of whiskey would calm Jay’s nerves tonight.

Founder: Vandana Sharma

Year it was founded: 2017

Sector: Business Services

Based out of: Bengaluru

Major Vandana Sharma has been a pathbreaker all her life. Her sense of adventure and tenacity led to her reaching the position of Major in the Indian Army. As a woman and a successful officer, she broke many stereotypes about women in uniform while in service. Her career in the armed forces is distinguished with her contribution to the Kargil War of 1999 being recorded and commended in the Military History of Army Ordnance Corps. From then to today, her entrepreneurial spirit, as she puts it, has attracted her to situations that required her innovative spirit and problem solving skills to resolve. Post her military career, Vandana forayed into the corporate world and has 21 years of diverse experience across multiple sectors. Working in leadership positions, she has added value to hiring practices and organisational transformation at companies like Wipro, Myntra and GMR. She established StartupPeopleConsulting in 2017 in Bengaluru. StartupPeopleConsulting is an organisation geared towards guiding entrepreneurs as they move towards their goals. Vandana is a TEDx speaker and she also speaks at various women’s forums to inspire and motivate more women to live independent and empowered lives.

Time in the army

Vandana was raised as a ‘fauji’ kid. Her father, and many other members of her family, were part of the armed forces. She found herself dreaming of being in the armed forces from a very young age and successfully took forward the family tradition of serving the country. Looking back, she narrates an experience that shaped her conviction. “My father was in the Air Force and my brother who is eight-years-older than me also joined the army. I would wear my father’s cap when he would return home and look myself in the mirror wondering if I could ever wear the uniform. I was in grade two or three then.”

Women were not allowed in the armed forces at the time, but change was in the offing. Women were included for the first time on the rolls in 1992 and Vandana knew she wanted to be part of this landmark change. In a batch of 33, she became one of the first few women to don the army greens. Her leaderships skills shone through, and over the course of the next 10 years, she attained the rank of Major and served with distinction in the Kargil War. Speaking about her time at the Army, she shares, “If you can run as fast, shoot as well, and do what you are signed up for – in my case, it was being able to supply stores effortlessly – as well as other male counterparts, nobody looks down upon you or considers you less.”

Business story

Following her successful stint in the army, she forayed into the corporate world. Her unique brand of leadership and experience helped her make significant contributions as an organisation transformer at Myntra, GMR, and Wipro – all large companies with commensurately large challenges.

While working with these companies, she realised that she had an entrepreneurial streak in her, being drawn to situations where things were “being done for the first time in an organisation or amid chaos and needed a fix.” Importantly, she realised, as she says, “It gave me a lot of joy to share my experience and help guide budding entrepreneurs on setting up startups and working with limited resources, financial constraints and acute deadlines.”

Her passion for supporting budding entrepreneurs took root and she founded StartUpPeopleConsulting in August 2017. Vandana shares, “A lot of entrepreneurs learn the hard way after making mistakes right from the start — from the time of searching for co-founders and early employees to find the right talent as per not just the skill or sector but also the values and vision of the organisations. My project helps early entrepreneurs with all people-related matters and also helps build their networks and teams across locations with minimum effort and speedy timelines.”

Challenges of starting up

Vandana finds, that like most entrepreneurs, her main issues are resource allocation, prioritisation, and selecting the right projects to address the right issues in challenging areas. Of course, scaling up and monetisation are areas of focus as she builds her business.

GlobalLinker Advantage

Vandana finds GlobalLinker very helpful as a networking tool. She says,“GlobalLinker is a great platform for digital meetings for small businesses. I am exploring business opportunities to expand my business network. This platform should be able to bring like-minded folks together who can leverage on each other and grow from strength to strength. The productivity tools and offers are very useful.”

Big business dream

Vandana’s dreams reveal a lot about her determined and visionary nature. When asked about her big business dream, she says, “I want to contribute towards building and nurturing an ecosystem for startups in India. I want to ensure that new-age organisations are agile and swift-footed to enable meeting market dynamics globally, have consistent performances like any other economic power, and build a great work ethic and culture in Indian startups. The right foundation and talent could help them grow into multi-billion organisations. Besides this, I am passionate about making a difference to this world. The causes which are close to my heart are women’s empowerment and doing something meaningful for armed forces veterans.”

Advice to aspiring entrepreneurs

“It’s a marathon so stay the course and don’t sprint. My motto in life has been: The universe falls in love with a stubborn heart! What you wish for always comes true if you work hard for it, so if you believe in your journey and purpose, it will come true one day,” shares Vandana.

Selfishness, Selflessness and Personal Ego

Selfishness and selflessness are two phases of the life of the personal ego, and these two phases are continuous with each other.

Selfishness arises when all the desires are centred around the narrow individuality. Selflessness arises when this crude organisation of desires suffers disintegration and there is a general dispersing of desires with the result that they cover a much wider sphere.

Selfishness is the narrowing down of interests to a limited field; selflessness is the extension of interests over a wide field.

To put it paradoxically, selfishness is a restricted form of selflessness, and selflessness is the drawing out of selfishness into a wide sphere of activity.

A chance encounter in a fertilizer dealer shop reminds me of this caption always.  I met a group of Guntotting Ex Dacoits who had spent 7 years in Open Jail as punishment and surrendered in front of Late Shri JayPrakash Narayan.

This Ex Dacoit was a Farmer and political leader now.  When introduced as the sales person who was selling his favorite brand of fertilizer – He had asked in HINDI whther “Ye Saheb swarthee hain ya parmarthee”. A Deep question about whether this person I am being introduced is Selfish or Selfless?  Even an Ex Convict chooses to know this beforehand.  Why I wondered?

Verma receives advice from those that have been there and accomplished it before him on three counts — navigating massive partnerships and negotiating, hiring the appropriate americans, and getting to know the way to allocate capital. Verma, who became part of Myntra’s brand team previous, has drawn his mentors from the style etailer’s old management team.TIES OF suggestions

Larry Ellison – Marc BenioffThey’ve have had public feuds but they’re additionally shut friends, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison supported Benioff throughout the early days of Salesforce, offering counsel, assist and day without work from work.bill Campbell – Jeff BezosA former Columbia institution soccer participant and educate, Campbell labored with and mentored with one of the vital greatest names in tech, including Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Larry web page and Eric SchmidtWhile mentoring is constantly about a casual, very own relationship with a senior or more experienced grownup who takes an hobby in a more youthful entrepreneur with spark and power, in some instances the relationships are more formal. a few accelerators assign mentors to the startups of their programmes, while some angel investors play the role of adviser. In other circumstances, “professional mentors” engage a stake in the company to dish out suggestions.A examine by activity insight, a non-profit that supports excessive-impact entrepreneurs the world over, found that 33% of founders who are mentored via a hit entrepreneurs went on to turn into correct performers. “The magnitude of difference between the performance of companies with a success mentors and groups that lack them suggests that the cost of beneficial mentors for startups may well be above all excessive,” activity insight’s director Rhett Morris writes.Sagar Yarnalkar, founder of grocery delivery platform DailyNinja, says his mentors are also his angel investors — TaxiForSure’s Aprameya Radhakrishna, Freecharge’s Kunal Shah and Anupam Mittal of Shaadim. “Aprameya helped me plan my incentive structure to work with companions and milk carriers beneath the gadget. All this helped Yarnalkar bag an additional round of funding from Sequoia Capital last December. “a pretty good mentor will need the equal factor you desire and back you to the hilt,” he says.usual MENTORS IN INDIAAparameya Radhakrishna, founder of TaxiForSurePhanindra Sama, founder of RedBusKunal Shah, founder of FreechargeAnupam Mittal, founder of ShaadimGlobally, too, founders of tech giants like Apple’s Steve Jobs, Google’s Larry page and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos have mentioned how having a mentor helped them build and scale their companies.

In India, there are lots of a hit entrepreneurs who associate with more youthful ones to support build the startup ecosystem. closing yr, Niti Aayog invited purposes for its ‘Mentor India’ programme, beneath which mentors might guide schools college students in govt Atal Tinkering Labs. around 750 mentors have been chosen for programme throughout the country. whereas some entrepreneurs just put their identify down as a mentor in order that a startup can raise money, others are in fact attracted to the increase of the business and support every time feasible.

Some suppose the word ‘mentorship’ has been abused in India. “Mentors in India are overrated. basically, ninety% of the time an entrepreneur takes the name of someone as a mentor because it sounds respectable. on occasion an angel investor puts in money and leaves however is credited as a mentor,” says Somdutta Singh, vice-chairperson of Nasscom Product Council and a member of the core administration committee of girls Entrepreneurial telephone, NITI Aayog. She says many incredibly-valued startups in India grew through inserting big names as mentors after they had been beginning but the relationship wasn’t really one in every of nurturing and advising.

If entrepreneurs get a “skilled mentor”, it comes for a monthly price. Singh herself is a mentor to startups via her consulting firm and her roles at Nasscom and Niti Ayog and fees a charge for her time.“just a few accelerators charge startups charges each month for an hour of mentoring, but mentorship isn’t consultancy provider. which you can’t pay them by using the hour,” says Ishan Singh, who has led three investments and is a mentor to 10 startups, including WeDoSky and PeeBuddy. He become previously a mentor to the founders of 91 Springboard. An advisory equity stake, constantly 1-5% within the enterprise, helps the mentor be utterly aligned to the growth of the enterprise, he says. There are still risks though. PeeBuddy co-founder Deep Bajaj remembers the time a “mentor” disappeared after inquiring for a 2% stake in the enterprise. “fortunately we hadn’t issued it. but i know many startups who haven’t been as lucky,” he says.To counter this, in Israel, its innovation authority has a formalised mentor-mentee programme, which ensures that the individuals signing up as mentors are tracked online for the number of hours spent assisting startups. Nasscom’s Deep Tech membership has all started an analogous programme with legal professionals, accountants and entrepreneurs appearing as mentors, and they need to visit the startups twice a week.

So how does one select the foremost mentor? Somdutta Singh has an ‘paintings’ —Aspiration-Responsiveness-Transition — for it. “The startup’s aspiration should healthy the mentor’s. Responsiveness is helping them connect with the appropriate individuals. Transition is to help startups develop. A mentor may still do all these,” she says.Verma says a startup should have a clear purpose and define specific results for the relationship. Ishan Singh, too, advises startups to spell out the expectations they have got from the mentor and to do wide research before signing one on. Mentors should be sincere ample if assist they can’t support, Singh says. “I even have declined somewhat a few startups as a result of I don’t consider i am the right grownup to help them,” he says.

Radical Self Confidence

Self-confidence is a must for all of us- no matter which stage of our life journey we are in.

It doesn’t matter what our role looks like:

  • Whether we’ve lost ourselves in career or business

  • Whether we’re feeling lonely post-breakup or just lonely in a crowd or enjoying our solitude and the feelings of Quietude.

  • Whether we’re speaking on a stage or whispering our secret to a friend for the very first time

  • Whether our business came crashing and we are on the threshold of bankruptcy suddenly.

  • Whether our Revenue sources have dried and all our efforts to bring the derailed business back – fail due to lack of interest, apathy or our mental STATE.

  • We shall need radical self-confidence.

  1. Much of this sounds like saying “Close But No Cigar”

    Meaning:

Coming close to a successful outcome only to fall short at the end, we see our miserable situation while negatively imagining that others have no sympathy and they are laughing at us.

We shall Radical Self-Confidence to overcome the situation.

  2. We will have no choice but to “Go Out On a Limb”

    Meaning:

Putting ourselves in a risky situation in order to help somebody, or to hazard a guess about what could be the best possible way out of this jam.

We shall Need Radical Self-Confidence to over come the situation.

Picturesque Moscow

A Short Story
by me

Charity Godfrey was thinking about Wenna Thornton again. Wenna was a cowardly friend with slimy legs and moist thighs.

Charity walked over to the window and reflected on her idyllic surroundings. She had always hated picturesque Moscow with its vacant, vigorous volcanoes. It was a place that encouraged her tendency to feel sad.

Then she saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the a cowardly figure of Wenna Thornton.

Charity gulped. She glanced at her own reflection. She was a cold-blooded, rude, whiskey drinker with beautiful legs and fragile thighs. Her friends saw her as a panicky, pickled patient. Once, she had even saved a colossal old man that was stuck in a drain.

But not even a cold-blooded person who had once saved a colossal old man that was stuck in a drain, was prepared for what Wenna had in store today.

The sun shone like thinking goldfish, making Charity delighted. Charity grabbed a cursed sandwich that had been strewn nearby; she massaged it with her fingers.

As Charity stepped outside and Wenna came closer, she could see the oily smile on her face.

Wenna gazed with the affection of 7074 violent mute monkeys. She said, in hushed tones, “I love you and I want less communication.”

Charity looked back, even more delighted and still fingering the cursed sandwich. “Wenna, what a spiffing dress,” she replied.

They looked at each other with concerned feelings, like two sleepy, sparkling snakes loving at a very mean accident, which had jazz music playing in the background and two tactless uncles talking to the beat.

Charity studied Wenna’s slimy legs and moist thighs. Eventually, she took a deep breath. “I’m sorry,” began Charity in apologetic tones, “but I don’t feel the same way, and I never will. I just don’t love you Wenna.”

Wenna looked relaxed, her emotions raw like a motionless, mammoth map.

Charity could actually hear Wenna’s emotions shatter into 9900 pieces. Then the cowardly friend hurried away into the distance.

Not even a glass of whiskey would calm Charity’s nerves tonight.

I will never be this young again. Ever. Oh damn… I just got older.

It is not my birthday but it will remain as a constant reminder of reaching an age post-retirement that constantly reminds of a few resolutions, few events and, few good, bad and ugly memories. Difficult to throw away like the pebble or the thorn that entered our Sandals and kept bothering us.

I know I will never be this young again. Ever. Oh damn… I just got older!

What makes this memory not go away? It’s hard to stay connected – reach out to an elderly person you know.  Especially, if people you are mentoring are mostly milenials and rebel at heart, famous for breaking rules, ignoring parents’advice – you think they will listen to you, comply with your rules,  NO Way!

What they expect is equitable treatment of an Adult-Adult transaction, not the Parent-Child one which they have plenty at their respective homes. So I changed tracks on my birthday.  I also realized we cannot change an adult, we can not motivate anyone! And, I say this with experience.  Adults change themselves when they wish to and become determined to. ( My wife tries to change me so hard, but do I 🙂  No) .  Same is with Motivation. We are all motivated people.  We know what motivates or demotivates us. Our conscience tells us what is right or wrong for us, doesn’t it?  It remains as a murmur inside our brains dominated by negative emotions and all the pseudoness generating hormones? Doesn’t our Conscience become victim and is taken over by our own viscious mind’s CON-Science?  It does. Trust me on that.

So was I on “On Cloud Nine” ON my birthday couple of months ago?

Meaning:

Having strong feelings of happiness or satisfaction.  SADLY, No!

So I generated a Random phrase and what came out was

Ride Him, Cowboy!

Meaning:

A cheer people yell, usually at rodeos when cowboys are clinging to the backs of untamed horses.

But what a coincidence? This was an apt phrase describing my mental state.

There was no ice cream in the freezer, nor did I have money to go to the store, and  as I forgot to go to the ATM and draw cash. This is what Old Age does to you – Forgetful when needed but never let go of bad memories of past.

So do I feel I am Down And Out

Meaning:

A term used in a boxing.

Or Someone who has become incapacitated.

I am happy to say, I am better that this.  I live life full even now and enjoy friends, online or offline. Enjoy the joy of my creation. Sometimes send long rants to friends or other times write blog or articles.  Meet new Startups, Mentees and Give back to society . So

Life is Good. Whether we are young or old.

Awakening latent Dreams!

According to Freud, every dream represents a wish fulfillment. Dreams are representative of the imaginary fulfillment of a wish or impulse in early childhood before such wishes have been repressed.

Sometimes you meet someone and your gut makes you judgemental immediately, without knowing anything about people. To Freud, dreams were all about wish fulfillment.

The manifest content of the dream masked the true wishes and desires of the dreamer, which were revealed in the latent content.

In the ‘falling’ dream example, Freud might have said that the act of falling represented giving into a sexual urge.

like someone is “Not the Sharpest Tool in the Shed”

Meaning:

Someone who isn’t witty or sharp, but rather,

they are ignorant, unintelligent, or senseless.

It is a daunting task to go deeper and find the latent dreams of such people. They are dreamers too, and they have a subconscious. Sometimes it gives them messages, signals but they are so subtle, soft and noiseless that people tend to forget them let alone take notice of them.

Freud believed that the content of dreams is related to wish fulfillment and suggested that dreams have two types of contentmanifest content and latent content. The manifest content is the actual literal subject matter of the dream while the latent content is the underlying meaning of these symbols

Whatever a Mentor can do to Awaken the Dreamer’s Dreams it remains that

Money Doesn’t Grow On Trees

Meaning:

Suggests that money is a resource that must be earned and is not one that’s easily acquired.

When Forgiving Yourself Is the Hardest Kind of Forgiveness
How do you forgive yourself even when it feels impossible?

So you’ve done something wrong. You’ve hurt someone else or yourself, and now you feel angry, guilty, sad, or ashamed. If someone else had wronged you, you’d want an apology, and then you’d decide whether or not to forgive them. But when it’s you who’s done the wronging, the steps are less clear. Maybe you don’t believe you deserve forgiveness, or you do but don’t know how to self-forgive. Either way, you feel awful.

How do you forgive yourself even when it feels impossible?

The first thing I’d like you to do is to acknowledge and appreciate the way you feel right now. Acknowledge that not everyone is self-aware or empathetic enough to admit they’ve done something wrong. Appreciate that you’re the kind of person who can recognize your faults and mistakes and say, “I did this; I am responsible.” You’ve done something wrong, yes, but at your core, you are a good person.

You may have read one of my earlier articles about forgiving others. Many of the principles of self-forgiveness are the same as forgiving someone else. When you forgive another or forgive yourself, you let go of your grievances and judgments and allow healing to start. By “let go” I don’t mean you pretend it never happened or say that what happened was OK. Forgiveness isn’t a pardon or an excuse, and it doesn’t mean you can’t continue to have feelings about what happened. Forgiving means accepting what happened and finding a way to move forward.

As a marriage and family therapist, I’ve worked with many patients on self-forgiveness. Some have done things that may seem unforgivable, but there’s one thing that those who’ve done the “unforgivable” and those who’ve done the easier-to-forgive have in common: They’re all human. Human beings make mistakes. Some mistakes are small, and some are enormous, but they’re all made for the same reason: We are imperfect creatures, and we’re all deserving of forgiveness.

We’re all doing the best we can with the tools we have. Sometimes those tools aren’t very helpful; our parents weren’t good role models, or our perceptions and judgments are flawed, or our beliefs and points of reference don’t serve our interests. I want you to sit quietly for a moment and say to yourself, “I did what I did because I am human and human beings aren’t perfect.”

The next step toward self-forgiveness is seeing the whole picture of the situation that needs releasing. This means you need to accept what happened,
understand how and why it happened, and see all that came out of it—the obvious bad and the not-so-obvious good.

To forgive yourself, you need to mindfully expand your view of what happened. First, you must own what you have done and the consequences of your actions. And, you need to accept that there’s nothing you can do to change the past.

Difficult Lessons: How to Learn What You Need to and Move On

Excellent article I found. Sharing.
Difficult Lessons: How to Learn What You Need to and Move On

By Fiona Robyn

“Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.” ~Pema ChodronRumi says, “Until you’ve found pain, you won’t reach the cure.”

I’ve been self-employed for many years now. This is no accident. I’ve always liked to do things my own way. I like to arrange my diary in exactly the way I want to, and make my own mind up about how I do things. I like to work without having to justify anything to a manager.

I’m not always comfortable in working relationships where the other person is “higher up” than me—when they’re in authority. You could say that I’m a teensy bit of a control-freak.

I used to work for a big corporation, and my relationships with my managers weren’t always easy. I was very critical of the way they did things, and if they criticized me I sometimes got very defensive. I learned a great deal from a couple of good managers, but I also spent a lot of time resenting being “told what to do.”

Recently, I decided to embark upon training to become a Buddhist minister. This involves having a “supervisor” who is responsible for my spiritual training, and who will ultimately be responsible for deciding whether or not I “make the grade” and ordain.

Last month, my supervisor asked me a question in an email and I felt immediately attacked and defensive. I felt annoyed. I complained to my friend. I sent her a long and rambling reply, outlining all the reasons why she shouldn’t be asking the question. We exchanged a few emails, and the situation got more and more confused.

I thought I’d managed to avoid conflict with people senior to me when I became self-employed. I didn’t have a manager anymore, so what was the problem?

The problem is that, as Pema Chodron says, nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know.

This difficult situation arose with my supervisor because I had avoided dealing with my control issues by becoming self-employed. It was only a matter of time before these issues might have appeared in a different place in my life—with a colleague, perhaps, or in a disguised form in a relationship with a friend.

After trying to sort things out by email, eventually my supervisor phoned me and we had a conversation about what had happened. I was still feeling very defensive, and quite angry. We spoke for a while. She was patient and encouraged me to be open.

Eventually, I admitted that I sometimes found it difficult to be in relationships with people who hold authority over me. This was a turning point. Once this was “out in the open,” it was more possible to look objectively at what had happened between us.

By the end of the phone call I felt a huge sense of relief. I had challenged my supervisor, and she had survived. She could see my point of view, and I could see her point of view. She did have a good point with her question!

I haven’t suddenly become the ideal employee, but I do feel that I’ve begun to make progress in how I deal with authority. I can now feel grateful for this incident, however uncomfortable it was at the time.

If you feel trapped by a difficult situation that keeps re-appearing, no matter what you do, the following suggestions might help:

Be kind to yourself.

We can often end up in similar situations with different people, after promising ourselves that we won’t. This is because we are human! It can be easy to beat ourselves up, but it isn’t helpful, and it only adds misery to an already-miserable situation.

Be honest.

Once you’ve been kind to yourself, it’s helpful to be as honest with yourself as you can. It’s natural to want to blame the other person when we’re in conflict. Begin to take some responsibility for your part in what has happened. If you can do this, then change is possible.

Be curious.

Do you recognize this pattern from your history? From elsewhere in your life? What happens? How does it start? What hooks you in? It might help to discuss this with a good friend, or to write some notes.

Be aware.

Try and catch yourself when you find yourself in a similar situation. When something starts hooking you in, notice, “Ah, here I am again!”

Be experimental.

This is where you can try behaving differently from the way you usually behave.

This might be holding your tongue, or it might be being more honest with the person you’re speaking with. It might be feeling things you’ve been avoiding, like sadness or anger. It might be taking some time away from the situation to consider what you’d like to do, rather than diving in feet first. Keep being curious, keep talking to your friends, and keep experimenting.

Be grateful.

If you can find a way to learn something from what is happening, then you will change for the better. You are also likely to feel the same relief I did when I “came clean” with my supervisor. Pause and feel grateful for what happened, and for the lesson you learned.

None of us like learning lessons about ourselves. None of us like to be wrong, or to acknowledge a part of ourselves that is flawed or frightened. This is why our lessons have to keep coming back over and over again.

Rumi says, “Until you’ve found pain, you won’t reach the cure.” When I look back over my life, I realize the most important lessons I’ve learned have often been a result of some kind of pain—whether the pain manifested as disappointment, or anger, or fear. I would never think so at the time, but I can feel grateful for that pain now.

Without this pain, I wouldn’t be the person I am now—a teensy bit less of a control freak! More humble. Hopefully, more loving. And definitely more grateful for life and all that it gives me.

Happy Mother’s Day! The toughest of your lesson was Wean to Win!

From a Single parent raised by my mom when I became an Orphan I learnt the biggest lesson.  My mom once told me that Weaning a child who is breast fed and the mom stops feeding him/ her is the toughest challenge a 6-8 month kid faces in their life.  It initially makes them rebellious, cranky, crying and persuading the mother to somehow agree to feed the child her milk.  I first observed it closely in Agricultural college in the Veterinary classes. I then observed this more closely in family where children were born and understood when i faced this personally.

When a mother leaves for her heavenly abode that is the WORST phase in any loving son/ daughters’life.

I learnt this lesson and rarely used this with few mentees and observed the similar behavior.  When a mentor gives Emotional Investment in the mentee the mentee relationship changes from Adult/Adult transactions to Parent/Child relationships.  If not well handled this can make Mentoring go haywire and once in my experiene it did. And I could not handle it being a male/ a father/ a grandfather – NO ONE, NO ONE can ever replace a mother in our lives.

Did you know…

… that today, besides being Mother’s Day (Happy Mother’s Day to all you fabulous moms!) is National Apple Pie Day? And what better way to celebrate than with a slice of pie?!

~~~
Today’s Inspirational Quote:
“A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary.”
— Dorothy Canfield Fisher
My mother wanted me to have a STATUS atleast two levels above her and my father who were Government Teacher and father a PS to the Chief Secretary.  I was refused permission to join Armed forces, refused permission to join ( Even though I was the 1st person selected) to be a Lifetime Non-Sanyasi Hindu Missionary to work in North East for Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari.
I was allowed to do menial work, child labour, odd jobs, even becoming a Sales person at 12 and was religiously funded for 3 years my typing lessons as a skill which I hated but she would say, The skills remain with us for life.  She sent me to hobby classes to College band, All indoor and outdoor sports and games, learn to play flute, drawing, painting, sewing, stitching, tailoring and every skill I could acquire like electrician, cycle and motorcycle repairer etc. etc.  The quote was “Learn to find dignity in labour and never look down on any one”.  These stuck in my life, they taught me to be humble and have humility.  My father died when I was  12, he was stickler and Sticked me heavily whenever i made mistakes.  His teaching was never chase money, build goodwill, learn to give and build a reputation – God keeps the count, pray to him to be able to give more. What profound Gyan for the Babyboomer!  I grew and groomed on such teachings and was taken to many spiritual, academic, business mentors to learn from them.
My mother broke tradition and became an Entrepreneur starting the First Montessory school at home for kindergarten children in 1957 ( I have written a full chapter in my book published about Start up Mentoring – published on Amazon. in).
We miss you, Akka!
