… that today is the birthday of Aspirin? In 1897, German chemist Felix Hoffman successfully synthesized a shelf-stable form of acetylsalicylic acid (affectionately known as aspirin to the rest of us). The first medicine created by the techniques of modern chemistry, it is probably the most widely used medicine in history.
