Did you know…

… that today is Underwater Color Photographs Day? The first underwater color photographs, taken near the Florida Keys, appeared in National Geographic magazine on this day in 1926. Magnesium flash powder in a raft on the surface of the water was used to illuminate the scene. The camera shutter tripped a battery that triggered an explosion, which illuminated the underwater scene up to 15 feet deep. Camera flashes have definitely come a long way! 😉
