Road accidents on India by city


Press Information Bureau Government of India Ministry of Road Transport & Highways 03-January-2012 17:57 IST Road Accidents due to Hit and Run Cases in Major Cities The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken many steps to minimise road accidents in the country but the total number of road accidents due to hit and run cases in major cities during recent years is matter of concern. The Government has made road safety an integral part of road design at the planning stage and road safety audit of selected stretches of National Highways/Expressways is being done. Driving Training Institutes have been established and safety standards of vehicles like- helmets, seat-belt, power starring and rear-view mirror have been tightened. Besides these the Ministry had also undertaking publicity campaigns on Road Safety Awareness.
